Guarantee of health conditions and requirements

(1)- It is the buyer’s responsibility to take the new puppy to the vet within the first 72 hours (3 days) of ownership. The buyer is to send: Dogtown Kennels proof and the results of the vet’s examination, along with the vet’s printed name, address, phone number, and signature for verification. This must be mailed to: Dogtown Kennels at 2263 County Road 1200N El Paso, IL. 61738. We require a general report on the puppy. Upon the receipt of the verification from the veterinarian, the puppy will then be guaranteed for 12 Months against genetic defects. If no proof is provided within 10 days of pick-up, this health guarantee shall not be honored. There will be no exceptions or reminders given.    AS THE PUPPIES NEW OWNER, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE SURE THAT THIS PUPPY STAY HEALTHY FROM DAY ONE.  We do not guarantee against worms or coccidiosis or giardia.

 A. If in the instance that your vet should find anything LIFE ALTERING with this puppy within the first 72 hours, then we shall take the puppy to our vet for confirmation at Dogtown Kennels expense. Should there be conflicting reports a 3^rd veterinarian will be consulted. The cost of the 3^rd veterinarian will be Dogtown Kennels responsibility if it is founded and the buyer’s responsibility if it is not founded. This does not include shipping costs for the pup back to the kennel for the vet visit, or shipping the pup back home to the buyer. When our vet or a third vet confirms the genetic defect, then and only then shall a new puppy be given!  All original paper work, along with the vet’s diagnosis will be required with the return of the puppy in question.

 B. Should you at anytime find that you are unable to keep the puppy; Dogtown Kennels will take the puppy back without an exchange or monies refunded. However, the puppy must have had a physical and fecal exam to show no contagious diseases or parasites. The fecal MUST be tested for the following; Regular test, Parvo, Giardia and Coccidia. The following will be needed from the veterinarian: the test results, signature and printed name, address and phone number of the veterinarian along with a signed statement from you (the buyer) stating why you can not keep the puppy (i.e. bites, doesn’t like kids, has a gender preference, moving). This information will be needed to place the puppy with another family.

C. I understand that at the time the puppy is picked up or shipped, the pups medical records shall be provided to me (the buyer), stating which vaccinations, and wormings, that have been performed. The Buyer shall maintain the puppy in good condition, including adherence to a regular immunization schedule, good diet and exercise. By law, you are required to have your vet give the rabies vaccination at 4 months of age and registered where required (i.e.: City and/or County). This is the responsibility of the buyer. It is the buyer’s responsibility to make sure the puppy receives the remaining puppy series vaccinations. Your vet will explain to you when these should be given. 

The Kennel certifies that this puppy is free from and has not been exposed to the following:

                    Parvovirus

                    Parainfluenze

                    Adenovirus

                    Rabies

                    Coronavirus

                    Distemper

Dogtown Kennels is NOT responsible for ANY Veterinarian cost.

(2)- We have been amazed over the last couple of years at the growing number of families who search out our kennel to replace a pet that has died due to tumors, lymphoma, or organ disease. We have seen how diet and the lack of appropriate nutrients contribute to multiple disorders and diseases such as: hip dysplasia, allergies, arthritis, cataracts, skin and coat problems, stroke and heart disease. We want to do all that we can to insure long healthy lives for all of our dogs, and the puppies that go into new homes. We are convinced, without a doubt that Nu-Vet is the best supplement on the market and it is available only through professional breeders.

Because of the variety and quality of dog foods available, we require that all Dogtown Kennels puppies be kept on “NuVet Plus Canine” This Nutritional Supplement is only available through breeder recommendation or a veterinarian that carries these. You will be instructed concerning this when you take possession of your puppy, and a 3-day supply is given to you free. We encourage you to keep the dogs on the vitamins for the duration of the dog’s life, to optimize the best health for the dog. 

If you do not keep your puppy on the supplement, then this contract will be considered "A Breach of Contract" on the purchaser’s part and will no longer be a valid contract.   ____ (Initials)

(3)- Should this puppy die within the first year, we require an autopsy to be done on the puppy by Dogtown Kennels Veterinarian. Payment of the autopsy shall be the responsibility of Dogtown Kennels, only “if” the puppy died from an infectious disease or by genetic defect. The result of the autopsy “must” show either of these, for a replacement puppy to be given. The responsibility of payment shall be on the buyer of the puppy, “if” the results are not within Dogtown Kennels power of control.

“Examples” of things that are beyond the kennels control are:

·        Poison

·        Car or tractor incident

·        Dog fight

·        Strangulation, suffocation or mutilation

·        Abuse (defined as starvation, dehydration, choking, beating, etc.)

·        Accidental shooting or other accident caused by the buyer or anyone the buyer chooses to care for the puppy.

(4)- I, (the buyer) understand that in the event of a genetic defect in the purchased puppy, I may have to wait up to one year for a replacement puppy.  

WE DO NOT REFUND ANY MONEY FOR ANY REASON!!!

If by chance your puppy would die prior to going home with you, Dogtown Kennels will replace that puppy with another puppy, either from the same litter or a future litter. If the breeding did not take you will receive first pick from the next litter of choice. Should you decide you want a puppy of a different breed that costs more, or registration status, you will be required to pay the difference in prices.

A copy of your driver’s licenses or state ID MUST accompany your deposit and signed contract, if you are paying with anything other than cash. If you DO NOT send the appropriate copy, the deposit will be returned to you, and you WILL NOT be added to the list.

Hip Dysplasia Guarantee

In the unlikely event that a Dogtown Kennels Golden Retriever, Labrador Retriever, Golden-Lab Retriever, Standard Poodle, or Doodle; are suspected of being dysplastic in its first two years, this procedure needs to be followed:

(1)- Notify Dogtown Kennels by Telephone or Mail

(2)- Submit the X-Rays to the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals, University of Missouri-Columbia MO.  65210

(3)- If OFA finds the dog to be “Dysplastic”, then to qualify for a replacement:

       A- The dysplastic dog must be returned to Dogtown Kennels.                                                                  

             Should the buyer not want a replacement pup, there will be NO exchanges made, and the buyer

             will be responsible for any corrective surgery. ______ (Initials)

       B- A letter from your Veterinarian stating that your puppy has received all regular check ups, 

Along with, copies of all medical records.  This must have the vet’s signature, printed  

name, complete address and phone number and his/her signature and printed name.

C- The registration papers for the dog must be signed back over to: Dogtown Kennels.

D- The dog must have been x-rayed for this condition by it’s 2^nd birthday, but not before 1½ years of age.

     (Sometimes an early x-ray will not portray true results during growth spurts).

E- The dog is NOT to be over weight, and still be with the original owner.

After these qualifications have been met, you may choose a replacement pup from any of our litters, subject to availability. If you had Limited Registration on the pup, you will receive the same on the new pup. Should you (the buyer) want to get Full Registration, then you will have to pay the difference between the limited registration that you (the buyer) paid and the current cost of the Full registration.

By signing this contract, I agree to the terms and conditions set forth, within the previous pages. I also understand that this document shall be enforceable in any court of law.
